Position Opening:
Election Specialist (Full Time)
Applications are being accepted for the full-time position of Election Specialist with the Wayne County Board of Elections. The primary responsibilities of this position are maintaining voter records, assisting the public, election preparation, and logistics. Specifically, we are looking for a passionate and reliable person to be a part of our team. A strong work ethic and a great attitude are critical to this position, but other prerequisites exist as well.
Position type: full-time, 40 hours per week, non-bargaining unit, unclassified
Typical work schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (with paid lunch)
Mandatory overtime during election cycle (including some weekends)
FLSA: hourly, non-exempt
Starting pay rate: $17.32 per hour
At a minimum, a successful candidate must:
- Possess a high school diploma or GED;
- Have the ability to learn quickly (and at times on their own);
- Have the ability to communicate effectively;
- Have the ability to deliver exceptional customer service to the public;
- Possess strong organizational skills;
- Have the ability to multi-task effectively;
- Be exceptionally detail-orientated;
- Be able to follow directions;
- Be able to work both independently and as a team player;
- Have the ability to adapt to change;
- Have knowledge of computers and office-related equipment;
- Have experience with Microsoft Office Products (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.);
- Be able to assist the public with information within the scope of the Board of Elections’ jurisdiction;
- Be familiar with the Wayne County area (or willing to become familiar with it quickly);
- Be able to adapt and perform in stressful situations;
- Must be able to endure long hours when needed;
- Be able to lift up to 20 pounds;
- Duties as assigned by management; and
- Have a great attitude!
