Polling Place and Precinct Changes
Wayne County Board of Elections – Fall 2025
Introduction
The Wayne County Board of Elections is required to consider many factors when drawing precinct boundaries and choosing polling locations. Occasionally, precinct boundaries have to be reassessed due to population changes and occurrences like new housing developments and annexations. When it comes to polling locations, handicapped accessibility, availability of parking, voter safety, interior space, cost, voter experience, and many other factors all play a role in making this decision. Sometimes, circumstances arise that require a polling location to be changed. The Wayne County Board of Elections does not change a precinct boundary or polling location unless it is absolutely necessary.

Precinct Changes for Fall 2025
We have implemented the following changes to precincts and precinct boundaries to accommodate a changing voter population, better allocate valuable resources, and ensure voters have a positive experience on election day. Voters in the areas impacted may have a new polling location, as indicated in the chart above.
Chester Township (Map)
Precinct changes within Chester Township were made necessary by an increase in voter population in Chester 1. Precinct boundaries within the ward have been adjusted to better distribute voters among both precincts within the township and maintain a voter population per precinct below the required legal threshold of 1,400. To accomplish this, the boundary between Chester 1 and Chester 2 has been moved to follow Lattasburg Rd (302). All Chester Township voters north of Lattasburg Road are now In Chester 1 and will vote at Emanual Old Stone Church, while those south of Lattasburg Rd. (302) are in Chester 2 and will vote at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Canaan Township (Map)
Precinct changes in Canaan Township were made necessary by an increase in voter population within the Village of Creston. Creston residents south of Myers Street are now in Canaan 3, as are voters in the area bounded by Sterling, Steiner, Oller, and Canaan Center Roads, and those south of Pleasant Home between Friendsville and Canaan Center Roads. The remainder of the township, including the Village of Burbank, remains unaffected. Murray Hall is no longer in use as a polling location. Beginning with this election, all Canaan Township voters including those in the Village of Creston, will vote at Canaan Free Will Baptist Church.
East Union Township (Map)
Precinct changes in East Union Township were made necessary due to a decrease in voter population, to more efficiently allocate resources and poll workers, and to reduce the number of polling locations while also reducing the distance most voters travel to reach their polling locations. The number of precincts in the township have been reduced from four to three, while maintaining voter counts per precinct below the required legal threshold of 1,400. These changes better distribute the voters within 3 precincts and will lead to a better voter experience on Election Day. The reduction in precincts will allow the Board of Elections to better distribute resources and poll workers, facilitating a more economical use of taxpayer dollars.
How Do I Know?
Every voter affected by these changes was mailed a notice to the address in their voter record. This information will also be prominently featured on our website, social media accounts, and press releases to local media as we get closer to the election.
You can check your voter information to confirm your polling location by using our Voter Information Lookup Tool – just enter you name.
You can also search by entering a voter’s address on our Polling Place Search Tool.
To view all polling locations, please use our Precinct and Polling Location Lookup Tool.
Are These Changes Permanent?
These are long-term changes intended to be in place for the foreseeable future. We know that changing a polling location can inconvenience voters, and we take that seriously. We do not change a polling location or precinct boundary unless it is absolutely necessary. If unexpected circumstances arise that do require any changes, all affected voters will receive a notice in the mail and information will be updated on this website and the Board’s social media pages.
Will there be more changes in the future?
While population change will always be a factor in growing communities like ours, the changes made in Chester, Canaan, Plain, and East Union townships should put us in a good position for several years. There remain necessary changes to be made in Wayne, Chippewa and Sugar Creek Townships, and we hope to implement these changes after the November election, and to have them in place before the 2026 Primary Election. These changes will result in polling location changes for some voters. It is also possible that the upcoming Congressional redistricting process will impact some precincts after the November election. All affected voters will receive a notice in the mail when these changes are implemented.
